Having lost the first set, the Russians pulled themselves together and won the second set and let them advance to the third set. The match reached its extreme point when the Brazilians were close to tie the score in the final set. Several of Kolodinsky`s famous aces and Barsouk`s reliable actions in defense, however, changed the situation. The match resulted in 2:1in favour of the Russian team.

Yesterday the Russian pair lost to another Brazilian team, thus reaching the elimination bracket. Despite their defeat, the Russians managed to overplay three teams in tough three-set matches and advance to the semifinals. Saturday afternoon the Kolodinsky – Barsouk team is to play Marcio Araujo – Fabio Luiz of Brazil in a very important semifinal match.
