Another SWATCH Brazil Vs. Women’s final set for St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg , Russia, August31, 2007 – the women’s gold medal match at the US$400 000 St. Petersburg Open will have a familiar theme after teams from Brazil and the United States captured semi-final matches on the SWATCH FIVB Beach Volley World Tour.

St. Petersburg , Russia, August31, 2007 – the women’s gold medal match at the US$400 000 St. Petersburg Open will have a familiar theme after teams from Brazil and the United States captured semi-final matches on the SWATCH FIVB Beach Volley World Tour. The only difference compared to recent meetings is the new American team of Jen Boss and April Ross will be challenging Brazilians Juliana Felisberta and Larissa Franca for Saturday’s gold medal and the 32 000$ first place prize. The “different” Brazil versus United States women’s final is that Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh are not the American representatives as Boss and Ross will be competing for a SWATCH gold medal for the first-time against a team from the South America.

To gain a “final four” berth, Boss and Ross scored 21-17 and 21-17 over Juliana and Larissa in the first meeting between the two teams. The Brazilians advanced to their semi-final with a 21-18 and 22-20 win over Adriana Bejar and Ana Paula.

With four SWATCH gold medals this season and 18 overall since forming their partnership at the start of the 2004 season, Juliana and Larissa will be playing an American team for the 11th-time for a FIVB title. The previous 10 gold medals matches were against May-Treanor and Walsh and now the opponents are Boss and Ross.
